Departed Golfers from Pueblo County Memorial
The Departed Golfers from Pueblo County Memorial was inspired by the heartfelt desire to honor beloved golfers such as Joe “Joe T” Taravella, Silvia Fransua, and many others from our community who have passed in recent years. These individuals spent countless hours on the greens of Elmwood Golf Course, forming lasting friendships and enriching Pueblo's golfing culture. Their memory lives on through the fairways and friendships they cherished, and now, through this deeply meaningful memorial.
More than a tribute, this monument represents all departed golfers—men and women—who loved the game and left a positive, lasting impact on our community. Families have already shown overwhelming interest in adding the names of their loved ones, creating a beautiful legacy that will grow for generations.
This project is about more than remembrance; it's about giving back. All funds raised through our annual memorial golf tournament go directly toward the construction and upkeep of the monument and to provide scholarships for deserving high school students in Pueblo County. These scholarships are a vital way to support our youth and honor the generosity, sportsmanship, and mentorship of those who came before them.
The first annual tournament, held on June 19, 2022, was a resounding success, with thirty-two teams participating and strong support from the Elmwood Golf Course community. Golf pro Randy Bregar has already designated a special location for the monument near the putting green—visible from the first tee, clubhouse patio, and transition to the back nine—ensuring it remains a focal point of reflection and inspiration.
With every swing, every cheer, and every name etched in stone, this event is becoming a cherished tradition—one that will carry forward the spirit of camaraderie, generosity, and love of the game. We invite you to be a part of this legacy.
